1. The Shining (1980): 8.4
This movie is based on Stephen King’s acclaimed novel of the same name, The Shining is perhaps the pinnacle movie of the horror genre.
Story: Jack Torrance along with his family moves into a luxurious hotel named Overlook. Till a period of time, the hotel was handed over to them. Despite the luxurious and comfort-giving things available, the wife Wendy Torrance(Shelley Duvall) and their child Danny(Danny Lloyd) feel uncomfortable soon.
2. The Exorcist (1973): 8
Regan, a young girl, displays bizarre behavior after playing with an Ouija board. Chris, her mother, and an actress consult two priests who conclude that Regan is possessed by a demonic entity.
The plot unfolds slowly with character buildup, so it may seem a bit slow in the beginning but it gains pace towards the second half. I think it would be safe to say that you’re not a horror fan if you haven’t watched this movie.
3. Get Out (2017): 7.7
A young African-American visits his white girlfriend’s parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point. Although they seem normal at first, he is not prepared to experience the horrors ahead.

One of the best horror movies I have seen in recent years. James wan did a great job of creating a new horror universe. It is a movie base on a real story. The cinematography of a movie is really well.
The storyline of a movie is when the Perron family moves into a farmhouse where they experience paranormal phenomena. They consult demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren to help them out.
5. A Quiet Place (2018): 7.5
A family struggles for survival in a world where most humans have been killed by blind but noise-sensitive creatures. They can’t make a noise so they use sign language to communicate.
6. The Wailing (2016): 7.5
Soon after a stranger arrives in a little village, a mysterious sickness starts spreading. A policeman, drawn into the incident, is forced to solve the mystery in order to save his daughter.
This movie has an amazing storyline which I’m not going to spoil if you are gonna watch this movie I can guarantee that this will not disappoint you.
7. Hereditary (2018): 7.3
When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited.
8. Don’t Breathe (2016): 7.1
Three delinquents break into the house of Norman, a Gulf War veteran who is blind, to steal his money. However, much to their horror, they discover that Norman is not as defenseless as he seems.
9. The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017): 7
